TURNİNG ALTERNATİNG POSİTİON AİR MATTRESS - LATERAL ROTATİON MATTRESS - PLATINUM AIR MATTRESS SYSTEMS
It is a kind of air patient bed which prevents bed sores
that may occur in their bodies by automatically changing the positions of
patients who have lost their mobility. It works for 24 hours, accelerating the
blood flow in the patient's body, preventing cell deaths from taking place. It
is a practical and ergonomic, patient air mattress model.
WHY SHOULD THE PATIENT POSITION BE CHANGED?
The most important application in patient care; periodically
turning the patient to the right and left. The main reason for changing the
patient's position is to prevent pressure sores. Pressure wounds; Wounds caused
by the absence of blood circulation in the body. As these wounds grow, they may
progress to the bones in the body and cause harm to the patient. Therefore,
patient air mattresses should be used to prevent pressure sores.
What is the purpose of giving the appropriate position?
- Equalize the pressure in the patient's body
- Preventing pressure sores in the body
- To prevent laziness of the patient's internal organs
- Accelerate blood flow in the body
- Prevent cell death in the body
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF PATIENT POSITION ON THE BODY?
Patient beds are the most important products that help to
change the position of patients. By providing different positions to the
patient, they accelerate blood circulation in the body. As the pressure center
of the patient changes, different changes occur in the body.
- Positions provide many benefits to the patient and some risks.
- Respiratory and circulatory system may be affected.
- There may be nerve injuries.
- There may be various regional injuries. (Assist. Prof. Ali Bestami KEPEKÇİ, Yeni Yüzyıl University Vocational School of Health Services, Patient Positions pdf.)
POSITIONS
SUPINE POSITION: It is the most commonly used position in
the patient. Because the heart and the body are aligned, breathing and
circulation are minimally affected in this position. Therefore, patients have
difficulty breathing in this position. Trendelenburg and anti-trendelenburg
(head-to-foot, foot-to-head cross-position) movements in 4-motor patient beds
are required to increase the circulatory and respiratory effects of the
patient.
LATERAL POSITION: Side lying position. It can be called
right side and left side according to the direction of the patient. The most
significant effects of the side position are on respiration. Ventilation in the
lower lung decreases and perfusion increases (blood supply to tissues and
organs).Ventilation increases in the upper lung and perfusion decreases. Ventilation-perfusion
mismatch is present in this position. Care should be taken not to pinch the
lower arm of the patient. Since the pressure will increase on the underside,
blood flow may stop, this position should be changed after a certain time.
FOWLER POSITION: It is the position where the upper part of
the body is lifted from 30 ° to 90 °. In the sitting position, patients can
breathe easily. However, hypotension (low blood pressure) may occur in the
sitting position. The patient's body should be supported with pillows and care
should be taken against any possible complications.
All positions;
- Note that all positions may have respiratory and circulatory effects, as well as extra physical effects.
- Keep in mind that in positioning, you need to consider many factors, from the patient's breathing to the response to warnings.
- Remember that when you place a position, you must support all areas and may cause nerve damage. (Lecturer Ahmet Emre AZAKLI - Anesthesia - Patient Positions and Systemic Effects of Positions pdf.)
CHANGING THE PATIENT POSITION
It is made for patients who are bedridden and cannot perform
their own movements. The aim of positioning the patient is to ensure the daily
activities of the patient and to prevent possible problems in the body. Position
change operations can be carried out manually with the help of pillows and
sheets. Or air bearings that can automatically change position can be used. In
this article we will explain the turning alternating position air mattresses.
If you do not receive
professional support in the care of your patient, please read carefully what
you need to know about patient care.
Cases to be
considered;
- Skin redness, irritation, discoloration, dryness, cracking, odor
- Loss of feeling
- Edema
- Skin shrinkage
- Wetness that may be seen in the bed pollution, wrinkles and so on. situations
- The patient's clothes (moist, the negative impact of the seams on the skin, the pressure created by clothes, etc.)
Points to be
considered in the current situation of the patient;
- The effect of positions on the patient
- Consciousness on / off
- Pain, sensory loss
- Redness, muscle weakness,
- Skin irritation area, pressure sores, etc.
Cases to be
considered during the process;
- The load of one organ should not be placed on the other organ,
- Body cavities should be supported according to position,
- The palms should be supported with roller,
- It should be ensured that the straightness of the spine axis is not distorted in straight positions,
- Should be applied to the patient without damaging the functioning of the cables,
- The bedding should be wrinkle-free, dry and taut,
- Patient privacy should be maintained.
RIGHT / LEFT SIDE
PLACEMENT POSITION
➤ Tools and equipment are prepared, hands are washed and
gloves are worn, the process is explained to the patient, permission is
requested.
➤ The pillow is taken from under the patient's head and placed
on the bedside. The back of the bed is reduced completely or to the level that
the patient can tolerate.
➤ The person performing the application passes to the opposite
side of the patient's place of rotation.
➤ The arms of the patient are crossed on the chest and the
feet on each other. If the patient is to be turned to the left side, the right
hand and foot are crossed with the top.
➤ The person who will make the application extends his arms
over the patient's body and grasps the distant side shoulder with one hand and
the distal hip with the other hand. The soles of the practitioner should be in
full contact with the ground, one foot should be ahead of the other, the knees
should be slightly curved and the knee in front should be supported by the bed,
the knees should be supported by the bed and the body of the patient should be
turned towards itself.
➤ The patient is positioned with the legs straight and the
upper leg slightly bent. The patient's back, under the upper arm, between the
legs and the soles of the feet are supported with pillows. The underlying body
parts should be supported. The patient's spine should be straight. A pillow
should be placed under the head and neck. The pillow should be shoulder height.
AIR MATTRESS WITH AUTOMATIC POSITION
It is used to change the position of the patient without
interfering with the patient. Manual positioning is done automatically with
this air mattress. The internal system of the air bed consists of horizontal
pipes. It prevents the body wounds of the patients in the hospitalization
position for 24 hours. They are non-sweaty with ventilation systems and operate
silently.
GENERAL FEATURES;
- INTERIOR SYSTEM: The internal system of the air mattress is two types. (AB system-2 system, ABC system-3 system) A full swelling of one of the two pipes of the air bed means that the system is AB, and a swelling of two of the three pipes is of the ABC system. One pipe swells 100% with air, while 70% of the other pipe swells. This circulation continues continuously. Thus, the pressure points of the patient change constantly and blood circulation increases. In the AB system, 50% of the patient's body comes into contact with the bed, while in the ABC system 75% of the body comes into contact, ABC system beds are more comfortable.
- POSITIONING: There are two types of air bearing which can position 30 degrees and can position 45 degrees. İstenirse, pozisyon ayarı kapatılabilir. Hasta otomatik olarak sola ve sağa dönebilir.
- VENTILATION: Thanks to the ventilation system, the patient's body receives oxygen. In this way, no bacteria from sweating are formed in the body. The wound formation in the patient's body is prevented.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ''30 DEGREE POSITION AIR MATTRESS (P40)'' AND ''45 DEGREE POSİTİON AİR MATTRESS (P50)''
When you are not with the patient, the positioning is
performed professionally. Positioned air beds, which are produced considering
all the complications that may occur in the body according to the position of
the patient, provide convenience to the user.
Provides periodic position to ensure that the patient's
internal organs are not lazy.
You do not need to be with the patient.
As the patient is not intervened, the patient does not
suffer.
The patient does not wake up from his sleep at night.
It is easier to turn overweight patients to the right and
left.
